Policies and FAQs

Our Policies

To provide the best possible care for our clients’ pets, we enforce the following policies.
We believe these policies act in the best interests of our Client and the Healthy Hounds Fitness Club team members.

Dog Eligibility & Behavior

These guidelines are in place to ensure every dog enjoys a safe, healthy, and positive experience during their time with us.

  • At least 6 months old for adventure hikes
  • Spayed or neutered (required for participation in group activities)
  • Non-aggressive toward other dogs, people, wildlife, and trail or open-space users
  • Comfortable riding in a vehicle with or without other dogs
  • Able to walk politely on-leash (or willing to work toward it)
  • No history of resource guarding (toys, treats, humans) in group settings
  • Up to date on all required vaccinations, including Rabies, Distemper/Parvo (DHPP), and Bordetella
  • Free of contagious illnesses, parasites, fleas, or ticks
  • In good physical condition to participate in structured walks, hikes, and fitness activities
  • On a veterinarian-approved monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention

For City of Boulder sessions: Dogs must have an active Voice & Sight Program Tag to participate in off-leash hikes in designated areas of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks.

Payments

We like to keep things simple, transparent, and running smoothly—just the way we like our workouts!

All services are charged in full at the time of booking to secure your dog’s spot on our calendar.

To keep everything running without a hitch, all clients must have a current credit card on file. If a card expires or a payment doesn’t go through, a $5 processing fee will apply daily until the updated information is received and the balance is resolved.

These simple policies help us stay focused on what we love most—getting those paws moving and tails waggin’!

Home Access

We take home access as seriously as your dog takes fitness! Here’s how we make sure our Coaches can safely enter your home—so your pup never misses a chance to move, groove, and wag their way through their workouts.

Clients Living in Free-Standing Homes

At your dog’s very first workout, Healthy Hounds Fitness Club will provide a lockbox for secure key access.  A one-time $40 fee applies unless your home already has a coded entry system (like a keypad on your front door or garage).  During your initial visit, we’ll set up your lockbox, choose the perfect location to store it, and confirm your access code — easy, safe, and stress-free!

Clients Living in Buildings

If your pup is used to city life, please leave one set of keys, a fob, or an access card to your unit with your building’s concierge or front desk before the first day of services.

At each scheduled workout, our Coaches will check in with the concierge to pick up your keys before the session and return them immediately afterward. Everything will be signed out and back in — just like clockwork — ensuring your pup’s workouts and your peace of mind run seamlessly.

Suppose your building doesn’t have a front desk or concierge, no worries!  A lockbox will be required for entry to your unit, ensuring secure and simple access so your dog never misses their session.

Cancellations & No Shows

We totally get it — life happens!  Sometimes, plans change, and that’s okay.  While nobody likes paying for a service they didn’t use, our Coaches carefully plan each day to give every dog their full share of fun, fitness, and focused attention.

When a session is canceled at the last minute, it’s often “ruff” to fill that open spot.

To keep tails wagging, our team energized, and our schedule running smoothly, please keep these policies in mind:

Cancellations: All sessions must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled start time.  Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged the full session rate.

Unused Sessions: Unused sessions do not roll over from one month to the next. If you need to reschedule a session mid-month, we’re happy to help—rescheduling will be done within the same month based on our availability.

No Shows: If your Coach arrives and can’t access your home or your pup isn’t there, the full session fee will still apply.

These policies help us ensure that every client—two- and four-legged alike—receives the best care, consistency, and love we can offer.

Why Do We Enforce A Cancellation Policy?

At Healthy Hounds Fitness Club, our cancellation policies are designed to protect both our clients and our team. They ensure mutual commitment and allow us to manage our schedule efficiently—so every dog receives the time and attention they deserve.

Because we provide one-on-one canine fitness sessions and only work with pets from a single household at a time, last-minute cancellations make it challenging to fill those time slots. For this reason, notice requirements and cancellation fees are in place to help us maintain smooth, reliable service for all clients.

We completely understand that life happens! However, if a client chooses not to honor the cancellation policy, we may be unable to accommodate future bookings. Our goal is to work with clients who value and respect our time, just as we respect theirs—and the health, happiness, and safety of their dogs.

Online Reservations & Profile

Fetching your pup’s next adventure is just a click away! Our easy-to-use online scheduling system makes booking workouts simple and stress-free. All services must be booked through our online portal—keeping everything organized, clear, and right where it belongs (no chasing down messages!).

Be sure to keep your pet’s profile up to date. Our Coaches use this info to craft custom fitness plans tailored to your dog’s unique personality, energy level, and goals—because no two tails wag the same way.

Friends & Family Access

We completely understand that friends and family may want to check in on your pets while you’re not home—after all, who can resist saying hi to a happy pup? However, to ensure the safety of your pets, your home, and our team, only residents of the home are permitted access during scheduled services.

If a Coach arrives and finds an unexpected person present, we’ll contact you right away. If we’re unable to reach you, we’ll leave the premises immediately for everyone’s safety.

Healthy Hounds Fitness Club cannot be held responsible for any damages to your home or pet during any time that individuals other than our team have access to your property while services are scheduled. Because our insurance does not cover such situations, this would be considered a breach of contract, and all future services would unfortunately need to be discontinued.

Your trust and your pet’s safety are our top priorities, and these policies help ensure we can continue to provide secure, reliable care.

We will be closed on the following national holidays:

  • New Year’s Day

A membership with Healthy Hounds Fitness Club gives your dog consistent, customized fitness and enrichment sessions each week with our professional Coaches. Members receive priority scheduling, ongoing progress tracking, and exclusive access to wellness resources and events.

Each membership is designed to keep your dog active, balanced, and happy — helping prevent the “weekend warrior” lifestyle by building fitness and wellness into their routine.

We offer trial sessions for new dogs so both you and your pup can experience what makes Healthy Hounds special before committing to a membership.

Your dog’s safety, comfort, and happiness come first — that’s why each session is designed around them, not the clock.

We don’t time tails — we tailor workouts!

At Healthy Hounds Fitness Club, our sessions aren’t ruled by the clock. Instead, we focus on your dog’s breed, age, fitness level, and overall health to create the perfect workout that’s safe, effective, and fun.

Some sessions may run shorter, especially for pups who are still building endurance or have medical or physical limitations. That’s totally okay. Every dog progresses at their own pace, and we’re here to make sure each workout leaves them happy, healthy, and excited for the next one.

Every pup’s fitness journey is different — some love to chase trails, while others prefer a good stretch or stroll.

Here’s a guide to help you plan the perfect balance for your dog’s routine:

  • Adventure Hikes: Frequency depends on your dog’s energy level, fitness, and recovery time. We’ll help you find the sweet spot between fun and fatigue.
  • Dog Walks: We suggest five walks per week to keep those paws moving, minds engaged, and tails wagging.
  • Massage & Bodywork: Depending on your pup’s health, age, and fitness goals, we typically recommend two to three sessions per week for the best results. However, some dogs benefit from fewer visits to allow their bodies time to rest and recharge between sessions. Your Coach will help determine the right rhythm for your dog’s needs.

Ready to get those paws moving? Here’s how to help your pup gear up for a fun, safe, and tail-tastic workout adventure with Healthy Hounds Fitness Club. Following these quick steps ensures your dog is fueled, focused, and ready for their next great adventure!

  • Complete Your Profile
Before your dog’s first session, make sure your client profile is fully completed and all service forms are signed. This helps our Coaches craft a fitness plan as unique as your pup’s personality.
  • Scheduling & Timing
Appointments are scheduled on the hour or half hour, but we allow a 30-minute window before and after your time slot to account for traffic, weather, and the occasional squirrel delay.
  • Confirmations
You’ll receive an automated confirmation 24 hours before each session—because we know life gets busy and reminders help.
  • Pre-Workout Prep
Before your Coach arrives, have your pup harnessed and leashed so we can jump right into the fun or if you’re not home, leave their equipment out for easy access.
  • Feeding Guidelines
Please make sure your pup eats at least two hours before their workout to prevent tummy trouble, full bellies, or bloat.
  • Water Breaks
Avoid offering water 30 minutes before the session begins to keep things comfortable during exercise.

Not always. We work as a team, which means your home is paired with 2–3 dedicated Coaches who all get to know your dog’s personality, preferences, and training needs. This team-based approach ensures consistency, flexibility, and the highest level of care—so no matter who arrives, your dog is always in familiar, trusted hands

Adventure Hikes take place in dog-friendly Open Spaces and trail systems throughout the Front Range. For Boulder-based clients, we utilize approved Voice & Sight trails in accordance with city regulations.

The benefit of our club is that we provide one-on-one private sessions. Therefore, we will only workout multiple pets together when they are from the same household.

Massage and bodywork can be a new and sometimes intense experience for dogs—especially during their first few sessions. The initial appointment often runs a bit longer, allowing your pup time to relax, build trust, and adjust to this new form of care.

Afterward, you may notice your dog is a little quieter, calmer, or more tired than usual. This is completely normal! Some dogs experience what’s known as a healing response (sometimes referred to as a healing crisis)—a short period when the body rebalances and begins its natural process of repair.

During this time, which can last 24–48 hours, your dog may seem a bit off or low-energy. Providing plenty of water, rest, and a calm environment will help them recover comfortably and feel their best as their body adjusts.

Nope! You don’t have to stick around — we’ve got your pup covered!

Pet parents don’t need to be home for any of our services. All we need is a lockbox set up so our Coaches can safely access your home and retrieve your dog for their workout or adventure.

For more info on how to set one up, check out our Lock Box Policy— it’s quick, easy, and keeps everything running smoothly (and those tails moving!).

Colorado weather can be unpredictable, but your dog’s safety always comes first. We adjust each session as needed — modifying routes, shortening duration, or swapping for indoor enrichment workouts when conditions aren’t ideal.

We offer weekend services on a limited, request-only basis. A $20 per-service weekend fee applies. We do not offer services on the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Easter
  • Memorial Day
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

You’re more than welcome to skip or reschedule a session — we understand that life can get in the way sometimes. We just ask that all services be used within the same month they’re purchased, as sessions don’t roll over to the next billing cycle.

To make changes, simply contact us in advance so we can adjust your schedule and keep your pup’s fitness routine consistent.

Yes! You can pause or cancel your membership with one month’s advance notice. We’ll always do our best to accommodate your schedule and keep your pup’s routine on tract.
